Guardian Kristyan Calhoun Flees to Ecuador

I’m both excited and saddened to let you know that Dorothy Helms’ case is grinding on, her trial date continually being pushed out at Calhoun’s request.  It is set to be a 5 day trial in March and you can bet we’ll be front and center, reporting daily on the proceedings.

Meanwhile, Calhoun has closed down Senior Avenues, instead setting up her business under a new name and with some not-so-new players.  Agape Case Management, LLC was incorporated 8/27/2019 with Calhoun, Jason Moos, and Tyler Farmer as governing persons, and Tyler Farmer as governing agent.

1.) Tyler Farmer was our original attorney in our seeking protection for Jeff’s parents from Jeff’s abusive sister.  Tyler did not reveal to us his connection with Calhoun as both her attorney and their apparent business relationship.

2.) Calhoun is the only Certified Professional Guardian in ownership of the business.  Jason Moos filed bankruptcy in 2017 (Case 1701388) which should certainly preclude him from getting a Guardianship Certification.  However, Calhoun has stated to some that Moos is seeking Guardianship Certification.

3.)  Calhoun has been out of the country since October 12, 2019.  She and her husband liquidated their assets, purchased a pizzeria in Ecuador in order to get business visas (the fastest and only way to get into Ecuador), and moved to Ecuador.  Yet, somehow Agape Case Management still operates a Guardianship business under her name, with her as the only Certified Professional Guardian.  This violates the Standards of Practice governing guardians which requires at least monthly “meaningful in-person contact with their clients”.

It’s easy to speculate the worst possible scenarios, and given our experience with Calhoun, none of those scenarios seems far-fetched.  At the very least, it appears she is squirreling away her assets and attempting to protect herself from a positive outcome for Dorothy Helms at trial.  It does make you wonder – what else is she trying to avoid?

  • Is it other grievances filed with the CPG Board?  (We currently have a request in with the CPG Board for information regarding any past or current grievances filed against Calhoun.)
  • Is it the new grievance that the CPG Board opened on our behalf?
  • Is it the maelstrom of litigation that could result from a positive outcome in Dorothy’s trial?
  • Is it the increased scrutiny from peers and families of her victims?

We continue to wait, watch, and report.
